MDAH would like to welcome the return of Zack Moore to the post of Director! Jim Altstatt is stepping down after two years to take a post with the National At-Home Dads Network, and in his place Zack has stepped up to take the position again.

Jim continues to be on the leadership team for MDAH, and we look forward to having Zack back at the reigns to move us forward with more playgroups, more DNOs, and more things for dads to do with their kids in Minnesota.

Starting Wednesday, September 3 the Southwest playgroup is moving to Wolfe Park next to the St. Louis Park Rec Center. It’s a great place for the littler ones to play, and once the weather gets cold it’s an easy transition to the indoor Toddler & Tot playtime there.

Dads, are you looking to stay active over the summer? MDAH has had Monday Run-day in full swing! Grab the kids and the running stroller and meet at the Lake Harriet north playground (by the bandshell) around 9:30. Running starts at 10:00, then we’re back to the playground to warm down as the kids play. Join us for as long as the weather holds out!

It’s that time of year where we’re aching for a change of scenery! The St. Louis Park Rec Center is certainly a welcome refuge from the cold, but larger digs have opened up for us. Wednesday mornings are moving to Turf Tots at the Hopkins Pavillion starting on March 5, 2014. Our meeting time is still 9:30-11:30, but the field house is open from 9:00-2:00 so feel free to enjoy some extended time out if you’d like. The cost is $4 per child, and there is a discount for purchasing a punch card for multiple admissions.

Should we be blessed with warm weather, we will venture outside to Central Park or the Katherine Curren playground. If the sun is shining and the air is warm, look for a bunch of dads and children out on the playgrounds around the Pavillion before heading in.

Just an FYI, we do live in Minnesota and cold weather is on its way. If you’ve been attending one of our regular playgroups (or thinking of attending one), be sure you check out where it’s moving to. ‘Tis the season for shifting locations:

• Monday Run-Day will stay at Lake Calhoun for as long as we can. Once winter hits, many of us head to the Ridgedale Library for Toddler Storytime. (Indoor location is yet to be confirmed, though.)
• Southwest Playgroup has already moved to Wolfe Park, in the shadow of our winter location, the St. Louis Park Rec Center. The indoor Tot Time opens in November, and we’ll try to play outside for as long as it’s nice.
• North Central Playgroup is always moving, so talk to Jorun.
